BC Rent Increase Calculator

Calculate the maximum allowable rent increase for a BC tenancy.

  • Residential Tenancy Act, SBC 2002, c 78, s 42(1)
  • Residential Tenancy Regulation, BC Reg 477/2003, s 7

Notes

  • Landlords must give at least 3 full calendar months' notice (approx. 24 days minimum formal notice).
  • Annual rent increase is capped by the rate set by the BC government.
  • Some properties are exempt from the cap.
